Speaking and Listening

This session helps the student to practise the speaking and listening skills and introducing the speaking and listening exams that the student is likely to face.

Phonetics

An important session where the student learns and practises the pronunciation of words, sentence stress and all the sounds used in the English language through exciting and fun activities.

Reading and writing

The student will learn reading and writing techniques not only for passing exams but for everyday usage. The student will be encouraged to read books and a reading list will be given to the student to aid selection of books. Writing techniques will be taught to the student through activities.

Exam preparation

This session will look in detail at the exam the student is wishing to sit and will familiarize the student with the exam format, timing, the type of questions asked, etc so that when the student sits the exam he or she will be familiar with the exam.

Grammar

A grammar rule will be studied and form and usage will be taught so that the student is able to use the rule competently and confidently through various fun activities.

The course is focused on exams that students wish to take such as IELTS/TOEFL and all the Cambridge exams. The course in the afternoon will practice the skills learnt and also familiarize the student with exams format they want to take by supplying past papers in class.

From 4-5pm there is an optional tutorial where students can stay behind and ask the teacher any questions or discuss any difficulties they have encountered.

Each term lasts two calendar months and the student will be assessed throughout the two months with a test on the second last day of the term.

The student will be marked on afternoon work and the test to determine if they can be promoted to the next level. The pass rate is 70% and this needs to be obtained in all subjects and the test to be promoted.

The student will graduate if the decide to stay on and pass the advanced class.
