Study-time
We will have class in the mornings and afternoons and there is time for you to discuss any difficulties at the tutorial times at 4pm - 5pm. A teacher will be available for any points that you did not understand in any lesson.
We recommend that you spend one hour a day revising what was learnt that day. Also, try to speak and think in English as much as you can. When you have learnt something new - practise! practise! practise! MiLC want you to go back to your home country a confident English speaker and we will encourage you to speak English all the time - NO OTHER LANGUAGES BUT ENGLISH WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM!! This will be difficult at first but will really help you to learn and develop.
Free-time
MiLC don't want you studying too much and getting stressed so we encourage you to use your free time relaxing and enjoying life on a Hebridean island.
There are many sports associations and football teams on the island . We will assist you in finding the right sports association for you, or the right football team - we believe that a healthy body means a healthy mind and so good exercise will help you learn and also help you meet new friends!!!
There are a number of bars and restaurants in the Stornoway area that come alive at the weekend with a great and lively weekend scene - many local bands play in the various pubs and live music is not difficult to find.

Part-time work
Students are eligible to work 20 hours part-time a week and MiLC will be able to assist you in finding work if you request it. We don't want your part-time work to affect your studies so all working students will be carefully monitored to ensure the student is not under too much stress. We want you to enjoy your time and not work yourself too hard!!!
After MiLC
There is a chance that a student can stay in the UK for a maximum of two years after studying and MiLC will be happy to apply for the extension of a working visa if the student wishes.
Sundays
On the Isle of Lewis, Sunday is seen as a holy day - the Christian Sabbath - and MiLC adheres to this. All shops, restaurants and bars are shut on the island on the Sunday so everybody buys their Sunday food on the Saturday. The day of rest is good for everybody to recharge their battery for the Monday!!!
